“Blessed are the mighty‐minded, for they shall ride the whirlwinds—Cursed are they who teach lies for truth and truth for lies, for they are an abomination!” 5:11
I am an avid Call of Duty hater,
I just watched the Black Ops II trailer.
I really like the direction Treyarch is taking, distancing this title from basically all other mainstream shooter titles.
Take a look at Halo, what do you see? It’s a beautiful narrative taking place 500 years in the future, breaking all the rules, making everything possible. This is pure science fantasy.
Take a look at Battlefield, the first 8 Call of Duty games, Medal of Honor, Homefront, or anything like those, what do you see? They’re all about modern / recent history based warfare. They all involve (at least semi-) realistic technology and scenarios. They’re all VERY similar.
And now take a look at Black Ops II, what do you see? It takes place 13 years in the future, enough time (according to Moore’s Law) for technology to be advanced to the point of self-control, i.e. Skynet. The U.S. government has created technology to protect us; unmanned vehicles, robots, etc. The enemies have taken control of this technology to use it against us. It’s unique, and I like it.
I’ll buy it, I’ll play it for a couple days, and I’ll probably get sick of it and realize why I hate Call of Duty.
In no particular order, here are my legitimate idols in life. These are all people I look up to the most in some form.
There’s something to be said about being up there next to some of them. This means so much to me. Thank you.
